FROM FAITH TO LOVE

Key Texts:

1 Timothy 1:5 says “The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”

Hebrews 6:12 says “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” And then

Hebrews 11:1 says also that “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-8; 13: 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

We all may have some unanswered prayers that seem to make us question God sometimes. But God is faithful...My personal experiences with God and from His word shows that God wants us to focus on loving Him rather than just having faith in Him. That is the ultimate goal as seen in 1 Timothy 1:5. Why? Faith focuses on what God can do for us. It is always about what we hope to happen to us. But God wants the focus to shift from what He can do for us, to what we can do for him and mankind. That is impact. We have been called from darkness into light so we can shine; so men can see our good works [Matthew 5:16]. That is a call to love! Love focuses on what we can do for God and others. So He tested Abraham's love for Him when he asked for Isaac. And when Abraham passed that test, God said in Genesis 22 ”now I know you fear me…because you obeyed me...and I will surely bless you...”

Whilst we wait for God's answer to our prayers and questions,  it's an opportunity for us to show our love for Him… James 2:22 says of Abraham “Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works.” This represents what we do for God and mankind as a show of love. Remember Jesus said, you can’t say you love me and hate your brother. So love for God and man go hand in hand. So let's keep loving and praising and worshipping Him and doing all the stuff we wanna do for God.

He will show Himself strong on behalf of them whose hearts are committed towards him [2 Chronicles 16:9]. Love is more powerful than faith. So bible says now these three abide, faith hope and love, but the greatest is love. If there is something you are looking up to God to do, shift your heart from faith to love. It would work for you.

God bless you.
